Danielle Masters is a mixed media geometric abstract painter and sculptor. Her paintings begin with geometric designs and evolve with the use of paper cutouts. The idea of using cutouts was originally inspired by Matisse, and this gave Masters a way to add texture and depth to painting in a minimalist approach. She uniquely places her abstract cutouts on top of her paintings like working a jig saw puzzle. Masters says, her work is about controlled chaos. “No human can be perfect or controlled and that could be said about my art”.
Masters will be debuting a new series entitled "Doodle". This playful series will take the viewer back to adolescence when doodling in notebooks helped one escape societal pressures while allowing for self reflection through an imaginary world.
You can see Masters work on display as part of the Blue Scarf Collective exhibition in the Pierro Gallery on view during the studio tour.
Masters was born in 1978 and lives in South Orange,NJ
