Although language is what drives our world and allows us to communicate with one another, it also binds us to definition and explanation. My work deals with breaking down the barrier of language in communication, the paintings become a visual path to understanding without words/explanation/language. My focus is on the relationships between colors, layers of paint and texture, and how these interactions surprise me. I see parallels between interpersonal relationships and color relationships. I hope my audience can become lost when looking at my work, as their eye travels to all of the smaller moments. It is the details that make my process so special for me – and how each detail comes together to create a much larger picture. I want each viewer’s eye to get caught within the layers of my paintings and their minds play and converse with the colors as the colors experience one another.
