I am a clay artist, who enjoys both throwing pots on the wheel, altering them, and handbuilding and altering pieces as I go. I enjoy working with the clay organically, having designs and ideas come to me thru the process, whether building from scratch or throwing on the wheel. I confess, however, that I most enjoy handbuilding as it lends itself to creating things on the fly. My goal is to create pieces that are functional; that is, that can be put to good use by the owner.
The work IÕve been involved with lately is about change, finding beauty in awkward uncommon shapes and the idea that travel transforms. I love the imperfection in my work as it gives a human quality to the object.
I am presently preparing work for a wood firing at Judith DuffÕs studio in Brevard NC.
