This year I am introducing a new series of narrative and representational paintings. They feature the beautifully maintained suburban landscape as a recurring theme, much like a theatrical backdrop. The overly manicured and controlled suburban world in which I live, intrigues and inspires me. This conflict, nature in an unnatural environment, is at odds with the local animal kingdom.

I capture a variety of all-to-familiar animals in portrait form, most of which are considered suburban nuisances. Seeing the animals presented in this context adds a layer of tension and questioning. Some of my new paintings also combine three dimensional objects compulsively collected and stored over decades. These works hint at stories and evoke shared memories.

Art Studio's magical space is shared with the talented and incredible students from the Spring session. Don't miss this singularly historic studio and park-like setting. It's only open to the public once a year!
