Across places and seasons, I am moved by the natural twists and bends of trees and branches, by the skin-like textures of their trunks, the vibrant colors of the earth, the flora and life around me. I am intrigued by the similarities between nature and the human experience =, which are at one moment, fluid rhythmic and full of joy and at another, confronted with abrupt changes and challenges. sometimes these challenges are imposed by loss, sometimes by injustice in our world and sometimes by the aging process and events beyond our control.
In my life, I have strived for that sense of connection and belonging. In my work I have tried to capture the essence of my sense of place and the stirrings I have felt in response to my environment and my place in it.
My hands, the paper, the colors and the myriad of textures are my eyes and my voice. They are my response to pain, joy, loss and new life.
They are also my vision and determination to remember and shape the future.
